When I saw my story on TV, I was excited! My story was announced at school and my class got to watch it in computer class. Everyone wanted to watch it over and over again! I really liked the part where the bricks went KABOOM on the wolf! I will continue to watch the show!
I watched it online and was VERY pleased. I felt that you did it justice by showing her artwork and commenting on it also. It was a good project and she is an incredible writer. Thanks again. It has been wonderful working with Green Screen Adventures. I will be retiring in June but hope to send you some more student work before then. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for accepting my story I thought that you got like a hundred of those a day so I would have never thought that you would have even looked at it so thank you so so so so so so so so much. <3
Iyanah is absolutely THRILLED that her story not only appeared on the website but also will be seen by boys and girls all over! I can say we honestly watched the reenactment about 15 times. Friends and family are all ready to tune in on the 8th. The school is on spring break all this week so we have yet to hear how her teacher and school feel about it but I am sure they will be very proud of her. My husband and I are really impressed with your show and hope to see more and more parents catch on to GSA and the positive messages you all promote. Thanks again for taking the time to work on this piece, we all truly appreciate it.
Thank you so much for letting us know the details. Cariann was so thrilled to participate & I will tell her the news in the morning. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much! Hannah said she loved it! It was exactly what she wanted the story to be. Her sister Grace is 6 and she also loved it! As a parent I am amazed you can make such a great story come to life. Hannah really does kiss and talk to Wadddles and Spike before she goes to school! She often can't find them. You all did such a great job and it is so exciting for her and her class! Jasmine and Wendy are her classmates and I am sure they will love the story. We can't thank you enough!
I really loved how you guys made it, it was better than what I had imagined. I really loved how you guys put my illustrations and showed my book in the beginning. What I loved the most was the costumes. I liked how you mentioned that I put my bad facts in the book. Thanks a lot for choosing my book to be on TV.
This is most exciting! Iyanah will be THRILLED to hear this news. Keep me posted. Thanks!!!
Thank you, we will not miss it. Nikeya is very excited!!!
Thank you so much! This is wonderful news! He will be so excited!
Thank you so much for accepting my story. I thought that you got like a hundred of those a day so I would have never thought you would have even looked at it, so Thank you so so so so so so so so much. <3
Thank you! Thank you! We are so excited for Jane! Her school is also very excited for her and will be watching!
Good morning. My name is Kim. I just wanted to come on and say my kids and I like watching your show. We watch it every Saturday morning at 10am here in Michigan. My daughter who is 15 likes the creative side since she is in drama and she wants to go further in it. My son likes it because it makes him laugh, as it does with me. I think it is great how you do it all. We love what you all do. Thank you all for making us laugh.
Hahaha I love this! It's so cute! Thank you for accepting my story. I can't wait to see what you guys do. This is going to be awesome!
I like the show and I think it is a good idea to let the kids write stuff on the computer and send it in to you. That is very good and I have seen the show today about the littering and that was a very good story.
I think Green Screen Adventures is a helpful TV program for a kid.
I am a second grade teacher. My students are going to start a Green Screen writing project!
I just saw your program for the first time this morning, and I wanted to tell you that I think it's a great thing you are doing! I am going to recommend to the families in our program to tune in on Saturday mornings, and hopefully, someday, one of my students will submit work and be featured on your show! Thank you and keep up the good work!
We just wanted to let you know that we loved watching the video of "How to Build a Clubhouse." It was great! Our family and friends were so excited to see it. Thank you so much for choosing her story! What a great way to get kids excited about writing! We can't wait to see more!!! Thanks again for all you do!
After viewing Green Screen Adventures on MeTV in Cleveland, Ohio, I simply KNEW I had to involve my students in submitting some of their creative writing...and so, their story was born! They had so much fun collaborating, editing, and revising their story, until they felt it was "just right" for television!
I am super ecstatic that Jeremiah has been chosen for such an honor! He is definitely worthy to receive this acknowledgment. This is right up his ally. Thank you so much for sending such an encouraging email. We will be sure to celebrate Jeremiah! Have an awesome day! Ms. Liddy (Homeroom Teacher)
Sophia, Congratulations on this awesome achievement. Hats off to you. I look forward to hearing about more great things in your future. Mrs. McGreevy
Thank you for this wonderful information about my student Kyle. All of us at Machetanz Elementary can't wait for the release of Kyle's video. Please keep us informed of the release date. Tanya Lang SED Teacher Machetanz Elementary
This is great news! Thanks for sharing! Way to go, Alex. We are proud of you!!
Sarah was so excited to hear that her poem will be on Green Screen Adventures!! (And her father and I were too!) Thanks for the wonderful work you guys are doing - promoting the love of writing! And by the way - Sarah LOVES watching your show! We only recently started receiving it over a new local station (THIStv). Thanks for considering her poem for your show! We look forward to seeing it!
Just wanted you to know that I showed Elora your email and it was met with an ear piercing shriek of excitement! I also forwarded it to her teachers and her English teacher (who said your show is fantastic) said she is going to have some of her students work on poems and/or stories for submission. Thank you again for providing a great outlet for children's creativity! Vicky
Hello! This is Nicole and I loved and enjoyed the way you performed my story! I thought the costumes were very creative, and fun. I liked the scene where the shark gets tricked by Tom. Thank you for including the snail in every scene like the book did. Overall it was wonderful! Thank you so much for everything you've done. ~Nicole
Thanks so much, Ms. O’Neill! I can’t wait to show Kate the pictures! I’ll definitely send a press release to our local newspaper, the Abilene Reporter News. (They sponsor our regional Scripps bee, and Kate had some contact with them after her fourth-place finish last year.) It was very kind of you to send this message before the holiday. I’ll forward your message to Kate’s grandparents so that we can all look at the pictures together tomorrow! I hope you and yours have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Sincerely, John
Thank you very much Ms. O'Neill!! Camyron is very proud of herself, as am I and her family. I'm sure she will try and submit another story, but for now, we will revel in this accomplishment and further encourage her in her writing skills. Thank you again.
Thank You. Yartiza loved it. We saw it online and I think her taecher showed it to the class. She has been very inspired and has been doing all her work and was recently student of the month. She loved the story. She loved the effect of the lights and that it was done in a funny way and she loved that her pictures were in it. Thank you again.
Hi guys, the whole family as well as all our friends, neighbors, church and associates just watched and loved "Living Life with Toddler Twins." Can I tell how khloe and the twins (Jurni & Jumir) were glued to the t.v? They were so excited! Khloe felt on top of the world not only did her book win 1st place but now it has come to life for everyone to see! We loved, loved, loved it! Thanks a million! You guys did a great job, keep doing what your doing. Wow what a confidence boost for the kids and great motivation. Love, Khloe and Family.
I thought you guys did a four star job. I especially loved the comic writing that transitioned some of Ian’s abrupt plot changes. The extra dialog that was written is extremely funny without changing the theme of the original story. The acting was very funny with great comic timing, keeping kids and adults entertained. I also enjoyed the observations on the book’s artwork. I also liked how the characters reading the book became characters in the story. I appreciated some of the small details like how the family picture in the book was framed in the bunnies’ home. Overall I thought it was an excellent interpretation of “The Bunny who could Not Hop”. Ian was quite overwhelmed; he had to leave the room a couple times during his first viewing, which is what he does when he is extremely excited about something. I can give you a better comment from him after he digests it more. He has been quite excited ever since his class viewed the production stills in class. The idea that his story was being turned into a movie has generated much inspiration for him to write more. It has also generated inspiration in his classmates, many of them are writing stories now. The concept of turning kids’ writing into movies is an excellent one. Keep up the great work. John
Thank you! Jonny is VERY excited! He loves the show, and is proud that you have selected his story for the website. I have a feeling you'll see many more stories from him, which I am ecstatic about his interest. Thanks again! Maureen
Hi Liz, This was wonderful! Raj was so thrilled with how it was brought to life onscreen. The humor was perfect for how he wrote it and the set inspired by his illustrations was great. Raj liked that there was a tie in with his inspiration about pourquoi myths. The sun spirit was so funny- Raj said he was a great actor :) Thanks for doing what you all do. Raj was inspired to write a few more stories to submit to Green Screen. What a wonderful organization. Thanks again, Joya Raj's mom.
Thank you for the information on Hannah's story. The characters are so awesome. She said they look exactly what she thought they would. Thank you for making her story come to life.
There’s a warm feeling inside knowing that there are those (WCIU) who can influence kids by doing the “Write Thing” in the right way. You celebrate children’s voices and minds. You encourage them in ways that schools sometimes have a difficult time figuring out how to do. And you provide a venue for educators to learn and think about how to provide and promote writing instruction. I want to personally thank you and WCIU for taking on this initiative and hope that this will be a program available for a very long time.
I am Raj's teacher at his new school in Winnetka, IL. We received your email and link today and watched it as a class on our Smartboard. It was so wonderful. The kids were laughing and Raj was just beaming. They had many questions for him about his writing process and how he was chosen for Green Screen Adventures. Thank you for sharing this with us and for inspiring so many children. We are looking forward to waking up on Saturday 4/28 and watching it on TV!
Thank you! Jonny is VERY excited! He loves the show, and is proud that you have selected his story for the website. I have a feeling you'll see many more stories from him, which I am ecstatic about his interest.
My little one is Alex and he is almost 5-months-old but super smart. Yeah I watched before I even had a baby (don't tell anyone) te he he! I love that you all bring children's stories to life. What a great and important concept! Keep up the great work!
Hi Liz, Thank you! What a great costume... and the poo!!! Ewww!!! Awesome. The kids are going to LOVE it!!! Most 1st graders love potty humor. I think Katie better start to work on a sequel. I just forwarded the pictures (and link to them) on to her school teacher, last year's teacher and Principle. They are so excited, as is everyone else we spread the word to. Even the checker at Trader Joes was excited last night and spontaneously gave her some beautiful yellow tulips as a present. Katie was so appreciative and feels wonderful! Thank you so much!
Dear Ms. Daso, I just wanted to thank all of you who had input in producing the "Weird Socks" story. I would not change a thing, it was absolutely delightful and wonderful. My little one just laughed and that is Janoah, she also has a story that she submitted to you as well. But we all loved the "Weird Socks" story, you all did a wonderful job. I was very pleased and so was Yakira's dad, Steven. Thank you so much. Green Screen Adventures is a great show. You make us laugh. Thank you for laughter.
Dear Gail and everyone at Weigel Broadcasting Co. Making "Jenny Saves Christmas" was a fun project for Elena. I was by her side every time she was working on it. Meeting all of you behind the set was even better. We were so excited when we left the building, it made the trip home in traffic feel like a five minute drive. You all are GREAT!!!! We loved the part where Elena's name was mentioned in the story multiple times, she felt like if she was there while you were taping the show. We took the dvd to school the next day, and we surprised Angela with [a DVD of her story] "Valentine Prank." She was very happy! Elena told her how "cool" you all were, and how she got to spend time with you guys. Everyone loved the show. Frankie.... They loved your part when you were going for that 2nd pickle, you made a funny noise while taking a bite, you can hear every classroom's laughter through the entire school. They loved you! Once again thank you all for choosing Elena's story. We feel like like we have a star in the family. Her next book is going to be A TRIP TO THE STUDIO. Stay tuned for book #2. See you all soon. P.S. Lawrence.... Elena wanted to tell you she hopes you feel better w/ your allergies. She will send you pickle soup.
Dear Gail Sikevitz, On behalf of Citylight Church, I would like to thank you for your generous gift of children's books. LIGHTFEST 2010 was a huge success, in part due to your help. Your commitment to supporting our annual outreach in our community is sincerely appreciated. Each year Citylight Church continues to advance it's mission of helping its members outreach programs (adopt a block, winter wonderland and summer camps). We have seen many lives changed for the better and we know that with the help of donations from supporters such as you, we will continue to see improvements. Thanks again for your generous support of our efforts to show love to our community! Best wishes
Hi, I'm Amanda and you showed my poem "I am me" on your show. I loved how you explained it and sang to it! You explained it exactly as what it meant. Thank you for choosing my poem.
Today is Saturday, April 23 and I got up from my sleeping watching you guys. I am a 40-year-old woman and just want to say how much and, really how much, fun it is to enjoy your program, but most of all the creativity of the costumes. You all made me laugh during the show and something even made me feel and see like a child again. My three boys told me they like it, so thank you very much.
I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your rendition of OWL PELLETS (show #426). What an innovative adaptation of what the kids did. It was brilliant to turn what might normally be a boring topic into a game. I can see the kids having lots of fun with a project like that. I will also show the third grade teachers the Young Author clip from Edgebrook School. I think it is a great example to share with the kids before they begin their Young Author Projects. By the way, thank the actors for doing such a wonderful job!
Boy you guys really do it! I'll admit I'm a 40-year-old woman who enjoys your show. I'm a writer and have worked encouraging young people to read and write. The actors, props, big pencils, puppets, costumes, being true to each character and characteristic of the story, the young people writing, and the fun, fun, fun is refreshing, entertaining, and educational! You can't beat it! Thank you for your work.
This is awesome news!! I'll be sure to inform and congratulate him on Monday. This will be a very positive and encouraging announcement for him. We are all very proud of him!
I am super ecstatic that Jeremiah has been chosen for such an honor! He is definitely worthy to receive this acknowledgment. This is right up his alley. We will be sure to celebrate Jeremiah!
Thank you. Yaritza loved it. We saw it online and I think her teacher showed it to the class. She has been very inspired and has been doing all her work and was recently student of the month. She loved the effect of the lights and that it was done in a funny way and she loved that her pictures were in it.
Grace states, "I LIKE GREEN SCREEN ADVENTURES!" Grace is very proud of her story and we are proud of Grace.
How can we begin to express our sincere appreciation for your screen adaptation of our son Joseph's Book of Snakes? Imagine a pride filled smile across the face of a little boy and its infectious joy spreading through our entire family. We were all truly delighted to see the Tree Snake and the Rattlesnake on screen with Professor Sir Pent, the trees and the dancer. We commend the actors that portray the works of the children with a creative twist and their own unique flare for the dramatic. We think your program is outstanding!
EvaKate is soooo excited! She loved the pics and costumes. We all enjoyed the descriptions of people involved and the behind the scenes look. Thank you for this great outlet for kids to learn and express!
Thank you so much for posting Vicki and Olivia's story. The kids were so excited to see their work on the site.
We already shared it with our friends and relatives in Bulgaria and ALL over the world! They will show the story in the school for everybody to watch. Thank you again and good luck with all you do to make words come alive!
We did see the episode. We taped it and have watched it several times. My son loved it and was so very proud.
Abigail is so proud and has told everyone that she knows that her book is on TV. Keep up the great work and our school is plugging it on their website!!
Thanks so much for a great show! My kids love it and are very excited about Bonnie's story being chosen.
We are all so excited here in the Chavarria household!!!
How exciting!!! Thank you so much! We are passing the word to all!
I just wanted to drop an email to tell you how excited Sara and Sam were to see their story on TV! They have felt like celebrities and as so many "fans" have told them that they either saw their story or saw the write up in our local free press paper! Thank you so much for giving children a wonderful incentive to write!
Thanks Green Screen Adventures for rewarding my son Erick's story, "The Spy Returns from the 13th Century." We promise to spread the word about Green Screen Adventures to our friends and family and the school community.
I just wanted to thank you on behalf of our family for taking Melinda's story and making it come to life. We are sooo proud of Melinda and her thirst for writing.
Wow! This is beyond amazing! Kate is going to be thrilled (I certainly am!) Thanks for providing such a wonderful opportunity for children. Your show is an amazing way to foster creativity. P.S. Green Screen Adventures is Kate's favorite show, and she rarely misses it.
We were so impressed with the production of Mica's story, "Small Things", that aired this weekend (Nov. 12, 2011). You all did a fantastic job in dramatizing her version of her story. This has motivated her to continue to write about her stories. Mica has been working on her next story. Thank you for giving her such a wonderful experience! Sincerely, Yolanda
Madi's schoolmates are wondering why they can't buy the book! Thanks for making the world a better place, one production at a time.
Thanks again and please tell your actors they are fantastic!!! So full of fun, energy and life. We love them all.
I am a reading teacher living in Chicago. I will be leading a reading group of kids, ages 2-6, in New Orleans for the Jack and Jill reading group. In celebration of Black History Month, the parents have requested that we read the works of African American writers. I saw Green Screen Adventures today, and I am interested in teaching Alex's "The Festival." The story sent a good message and was written by an African American kid. This is extremely positive, and so I would like to be able to incorporate this into a class setting.
We watched the video on our SMART BOARD... the entire class LOVED IT!!! I was hoping to have her READ her story to them and motivate them to submit as well.
I was really happy for Leonel. He really needed something like this to boost his self-esteem.
This is so great!!! My son is so excited to see the episode. He loved the pictures and the cereal box puppets. He is really proud of himself. I can't thank you enough.
I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with the recent airing of Zach's GSA episode. Kudos to your talented staff for helping the children see their writing come to life! I know this was an experience Zach will never forget. You have inspired him to continue to write and share his writing with others at school. His confidence has also grown due to his GSA experience.
Dear Katy, Thank you so much for contacting us! Rose is very excited to have had her story picked and is already planning another submission. I contacted a friend of mine who reports for our local newspaper to see if she would be interested in writing a story about your program and what Rose has had an opportunity to do. I do thank you for the opportunity you have given Rose to do something she can truly be proud of.
Last night was a magical evening for my entire family. We practically flew home on our respective clouds of happiness. Thank you for doing what you do and for celebrating the children and their unique visions.
Seeing my poem come to life on the GREEN SCREEN is a "rumbler!" I just love the characters. They are very cute and cool. Tomato and Spaghetti were off the menu!!! They were cook-N!!! I feel like writing more about them. Give the waiter a BIG tip too. My teachers, principal, magnet coordinator, and my classmates thought it all was scrumptious. THANKS TO THE GSA TEAM FOR EVERYTHING.
I have seen firsthand the impact your program has on our young authors here in Chicago. The experience you provide through Green Screen Adventures not only solidifies the idea that these students are authors, but also proves to them that someone enjoyed their story so much that they chose to take the time to create a skit of the story, complete with actors, costumes, and props. It demonstrates to students that people wanted to share their stories with the whole city, through a television program, because that's how wonderful the stories were. What an incredible experience for elementary students to have, and what an amazing job you're doing.
Dear Gail, Jessica and Lawrence, Thank you so much for coming to Barnard School for our Family Literacy Night. We're enjoying seeing our students' writing broadcast on the air. We have a tape made of all the Barnard work so far. I know there will be plenty more to come! The actors are doing such a fine job of enacting student writing and making it meaningful to the reader. Keep up the great work!
On behalf of the students from 207 and myself, I would like to thank you and your crew for taking the time to come up to Henson School and acknowledge the children's work. Your visit was the affirmation of their success. They finally felt the true worth of their work and realized the importance of writing and the power of thinking and using their imagination. And even more surprising, was that a famous actress like Nilaja Sun would "take the time to read our book. Thank you Nilaja, Gail, and Green Screen for sharing in our feelings, in our secrets, in our lives. The children and I will never forget you.
Dear Ms. Sikevitz, It is with great honor that we are writing this endorsement for Weigel Broadcasting and in particular for its work with the educational program Green Screen Adventures. As an Area Instruction Officer of 30 Chicago Public Schools, all of which are involved with the Green Screen Program, I have seen first hand the impact this organization has made on children, our community of schools, and education. The Green Screen Adventures program has helped support, encourage and celebrate writing. To see our young authors' works showcased on the program, and then see the pride these students feel when watching the show that is using their work is in itself worth every moment. What is even more valuable for our schools has been the impact on writing. Students who were not writing much are now motivated to write, one young fellow could be heard talking to his classmate saying, "Now I'm going to write a story." Teachers are accessing the shows for the menu of instructional strategies to use in scaffolding the writing in their classrooms. They are also able to use the show as a model of the impact that writing can have. Some of our schools have identified writing as a school-wide focus and have incorporated Green Screen Adventures into their efforts. We will never tire of hearing students say "I want to write" and we are grateful that Weigel Broadcasting has chosen to impact schools by valuing the writing process in this most unique way. Thank you to Weigel Broadcasting for providing this opportunity!
Dear Gail: Please extend my gratitude to WCIU personnel for their efforts in the creation Green Screen Adventures. The children have an audience beyond the classroom teacher in which to share their work. This motivates the "unmotivated" and stirs excitement within the child. In many cases, I have seen tears of joy brought to extended family members' eyes when I tell them that their child's work has been selected. Life's celebrations are few and far between for many of our inner city students, but your program has elevated the desire to write and a reason to celebrate. Thank you so very much for your hard work in making Green Screen happen, for giving the children an authentic reason to write and an exciting reason to smile.
Dear Green Screen Adventures Crew: Thanks so much for having us!! We had such a wonderful and memorable experience. Katie read the script in detail at dinner and really enjoyed being interviewed by the "puppets." She had such a wonderful time. I think you can tell she was just beside herself with the attention and 'coolness' of the whole thing. I'm in awe of Katie and thanked her for allowing us to have that wonderful experience. Thank you for all your preparations and allowing us a behind-the-scenes look at our favorite show. We stumbled upon Green Screen about a year ago when Katie was 6 1/2. I think we were just channel surfing since at hear age she is kind of passed most of the cartoon shows. There doesn't seem to be much available for her age except action junk cartoons. Anyway, I remember being curious at these funny adults dressing up in these weird costumes. It was delightful! We both enjoyed it right away and quickly we started watching the show daily at 7:00 AM! We can’t wait to see the show. I'm sure her school will make a big deal about it. Perhaps do a big assembly around it. I will let the local Downers Grove Sun and Reporter papers know about it about two weeks before the airing date. Good luck to you all and God bless everybody at Green Screen for putting all your energy and effort into this show ...it really shows! Sincerely, Kathy McGuire and Family
"Dear G.S.A, I loved seeing my story on T.V. My favorite part was when they showed my illustrations. My friend wants to have one of her stories on T.V. too. Thank you for such a great job! You are all great actors. Sincerely, MiMi"
"Hello, Green Screen Adventures! Mimi's letter does not adequately express how thrilled she was by this experience, nor does she tell you that she and her sisters were up early in the morning anxiously waiting for the show to come on TV on August 14. It was a really big deal that they have shared with family and friends for the past week and a half. Since we visited the studio during your first evening of taping and we saw the props you had made, we all knew that 'Striper" was going to get a guitar, and we looked forward to seeing how you would work that into the story. "Striper" earned hearty laughter from the girls when he played and sang the blues. We also liked the way the Annie character was embellished with whininess. Nice touch! Thank you again for choosing Mimi's story. She is a child who has lots of creative ideas but finds it difficult to execute them. It was inspiring to see a final product on TV. This will be an experience we will use to remind her about what can happen when she actually follows through with her good ideas. As a result of all the attention, Mimi has started writing a sequel to "Not Enough Room." She plans to write five of them. I think you're all terrific and doing a great job encouraging kids to write by showing them that people care about what they write."
"My daughter LOVES your show! It's one of the few that I allow (and encourage) her to watch. I am a Special Education Teacher in Cleveland, OH, and I especially appreciate your episodes that include ASL (two of my friends are Deaf Ed!) and/or Spanish (our city has a large population of Spanish-speakers). For my job, I travel to regular and special education sites. I will be sharing information about Green Screen Adventures with my colleagues and other educators I meet. Your show makes big dreams and ideas achievable and would be a terrific way to introduce lessons on: imagination, prediction, comparison, plot, descriptors, story boarding, and many other writing techniques and concepts. You may want to consider offering workshops (if you don't already) to teachers or using your show "Green Screen TV" as a learning tool in their classrooms. Keep up the excellent work!"
"Thank you for making my book into a TV show. I liked the way you held my book at the beginning and talked about different ways I illustrated my book. Seeing and listening to my story was cool. I shared it with my cousins (I talked about them in my about the author page). You read that I liked hanging out with my cousins and they were there with me when I watched it on the computer! They laughed. Thank you for making my book."
"I was attending the awards ceremony at Kellogg school when they announced that Green Screen Adventures was creating a television show based upon Samantha's Young Author book. Samantha was thrilled to have been chosen and I was very teary when she walked up to accept this special honor. We were thrilled to watch the show and shared with family and friends the air dates. When we first saw the show, the smile on Samantha's face was priceless! She was so proud of her work being honored in this way!! I loved the costumes and the scenery of the story. I really enjoyed the way the characters referred to the story as well as the illustrations during the show. It helped my daughter realize what it was about her book that made it special and chosen for the show. Thank you for your hard work, I am thrilled to have a new show for the girls (we have Isabella, age 6, also) to watch that celebrates and inspires creativity! Thank you, Thank you!"
"Hi this is Jasmine. I really liked the show. It was very cute! Green Screen Adventures rocks! Thank you. Love, Jasmine."
"We all loved it. Tyla was very happy, proud and pleased to have been selected. She smiled each time we told family and friends to watch her story on THIStv. Her school joined in as well; some of the teachers invited Tyla to sit in with the younger students while they watched her story then had a Q&A session afterwards. She has been encouraged to write another children's book. Thank you so much for this opportunity."
"I felt very proud of myself for what I had done. I liked the questions that they asked. I liked the girl that knew how to play the saxophone. I enjoyed seeing the coconut and the banana, they made me laugh. Everybody was proud of me, but not as proud as I was of myself."
"Hi, I'm Amanda and you showed my poem 'I am me' on your show. I loved how you explained it and sang to it! You explained it exactly as what it meant. Thank you for choosing my poem."
"Dear Green Screen Adventures, I thank you for putting my story on your show. I felt really admired when it came on. I got really excited to see it on TV. Thanks!"
"I would like to thank Green Screen for taking the time to select the children's stories that are featured, not just my child but all of the children. I think it's very encouraging to both the child and the adult to have their story come to life on TV. Your show is inspiring children all over, especially in the public school system, that the possibility of becoming an author is very real. I can not express enough how good this experience has made my family feel. Please keep this going. I think it would be great even if one child from every school, public or private, has the same experience we had. Again, Thanks Green Screen!!!!!!!"
"Thank you for broadcasting my book, "The Life of a Hamster." It is an honor to have my book on television. I will continue to write books. I know that my little body can do such big things. Just knowing that my book is going to be on television keeps me happy. Your company is great, just like my book."
"Thank you for taking the time to write and leave us a message. Yes, we are aware that her story will be airing this Saturday. As a matter of fact we are having a pancake breakfast party with the whole family that day! As a coincidence, it is my birthday that day (all the info about Green Screen Adventures is on my evite invitation) so Sofi will be giving me my first birthday present of the day. She has been counting the days until Saturday comes. She is very excited about the program, since the beginning of the month she keeps looking at the Green Screen Adventures website and reading and rereading the time and date her story will air. She was also very excited because her friend's story was on TV a couple of weeks ago. Her friend is Brianna, they are classmates this year again. Sofia feels very important and wants to tell everyone about her story and when it will be on TV. She memorized the cable channel, and the regular tv channel and explains that it is "26 point 4". I also think she got her friends at school interested about the program because they ask for broadcasting times. Sofia already told me she wants to write another book, and I will take advantage of this excitement to encourage her to write more. Thanks again for making this possible for children and giving them the opportunity to feel important and proud of themselves, I know Sofi feels that way!"
"The whole family watched together--Renner and his two brothers, parents and grandparents. Renner was fascinated seeing his own words brought to life. He had a tremendous feeling of accomplishment to have written something that could be enjoyed by so many people. I don't know how many chances he has had in 9 years to feel as though something he created could bring joy or laughter to other people. He also liked having all of us discuss the story and tell him what different parts of it meant to us. Renner has always loved writing stories, even when we had to put the words down for him because he was too little to write, but he got a real sense of audience from seeing his work put into film. He is developing a sense that one writes for oneself but also for others. He also seems to have a better ability to imagine the writers behind his favorite books. He thinks about their writing process and feels a connection. Renner loved that your interpretation was so close to his story. He felt that you were true to his ideas and vision. I think that was very important to him."
"WOW! Amanda was so excited to see her story online! Thank you for giving Amanda this opportunity to share her story & drawings with others. What a wonderful/educational gift you share with the children! I wish every community had a program like yours! We have shared Amanda's Story and your web site up & down the East Coast, to California and Alaska....and I'm sure it's been forwarded too. We've been 'singing your praises' and encouraging all the 'young writers' to send you their stories. Thank you for making her story come to life in ASL. She loved it and was especially excited to know that the 'scarecrow' was 'really deaf' and knew ASL! Jess was great and Amanda LOVED her blue dress and ponytails! Of course the 'dog' was her favorite and made her laugh! Everyone we shared the story with was so impressed with your program and how you told Amanda's story just as she would tell it. Jess really picked up on Amanda's humor & body language. I can't thank you enough... this was a true gift to Amanda who loves to write stories & draw pictures to share with others! Thank you!"
"Hey All! I just happened to catch an episode this morning with my son who was totally engrossed! I was so pleased to watch something that both he and I could enjoy - even better, that it wasn't cartoons, but live theatre and imagination. :) Thanks so much! I look forward to more adventures..."
"You Guys Are Awesome! Your program inspires me to continue teaching creative writing even within a system that is overwhelmed with testing. My students get inspired when they hear about their classmates' success stories in writing."
"Hello this is Nisalia. I heard about my story and I really would love to know more about it and how it would be airing on TV. I would also like to inform you that I am so happy and excited and that I love the Green Screen Adventures and I would love to thank you for everything and I am just very excited to be able to see my story actually be on TV."
"Matteo and I watched it with our family over the holiday break. WOW! Matteo's little face lit up when he saw his name on the screen! He was so proud of himself and the book he wrote. As a parent it was fantastic to see him feel such a sense of accomplishment."
"He and I both watched and loved it. It was very exciting to see his name and our school on TV. He liked the skit of his poem and said he is now more excited than ever to see his "interview" with his principal. We are all very excited and very proud of him! Thank you so much for everything you are doing for Jamarrian and for Crown Academy!"
"Lev was so proud of his work! He was smiling from ear to ear. Thanks so much for giving Lev the chance to see his creation come to fruition. It gave him such a sense of confidence."
"Dr. Petersen, Carrie and I "Rebecca" want to say that your video of "Scarecrow Leaf Magic" by Amanda was truly amazing. We all know Amanda personally and adore her. Her gifts of art and happiness are true inspirations to all of us. We adore and cherish her. Thank you for sharing her story with others."
"We all watched the entire show; we all loved it. We are very proud of Jenesse for her work. And are thankful for all the work that your company does for our children. Thank you once again."
"We are very proud of Jose, he is an excellent student and a very sweet boy. When he heard his report was selected and going to be aired on television, he was so excited and proud. The following is a note that Jose wrote about how he felt when he heard the great news: 'I felt very proud of myself for what I had done. I liked the questions that they asked. I liked the girl that knew how to play the saxophone. I enjoyed seeing the coconut and the banana, they made me laugh. Everybody was proud of me, but not as proud as I was of myself.' Thank you for giving our students this wonderful opportunity."
"This is Marissa, I wrote "Terence and the attic." I would like to thank you for choosing my story to air on your show. I was happily surprised to hear that my story was chosen. When I saw the show it was exciting for me to see someone else read my story to a nationwide audience. The show helped me get a lot of interesting feedback on my work from all my friends and family. I was really surprised that you guys didn't change my story at all which was something I liked. I think that the concept of Green Screen Adventures is very unique and it's great because it encourages kids to express themselves through story writing."
"Dear Green Screen Adventures, Thank you for posting 324's and my artwork on your website. Your picture that you click to get to student artwork is mine. You have my true thanks and gratitude. I am pretty sure that my teacher Mrs. Ferree and my school are thankful as well. I have to admit that all of them are good. I just wanted to thank you. Sincerely, Dylan"
"Just wanted to drop a note about how impressed my students were to have their stories recreated on TV. I have shown my classes the show and it has been a powerful strategy to get my students to write stories. Every year at Gallistel we have a writing contest, and I usually get about 50 stories. This year 246 students have turned in stories that they've written. Also I have a Wall of Fame in my room with pictures of the students who've had their stories on TV. The students really feel like stars. Your show has a positive influence to encourage children to write. Please continue your good work. Thank you!"
"Diego and his cousins and the whole family really enjoyed the program. It was our first time seeing the program and we didn't know what to expect. We really enjoyed not only Diego's story but all of them and how they asked you questions about how you feel and what you would do in certain situations. It's interesting to note that the showed air exactly on Diego's birthday and he had a sleep over the night before with his cousins so all were able to enjoy that memorable day. The last thing that Diego really enjoyed was the fact that his drawings were also shown."
"Teachers and students are very excited about being featured on this show. Students keep asking me when their piece will be aired. This has offered our students an opportunity to showcase their writing and motivated other students to write."
"Teachers have said that it is a wonderful opportunity for students to have their work showcased. We are delighted that writing is given such prominence - the television is a terrific vehicle. Students are taking more pride in their writing and want to produce more writing... poetry, narrative, etc."
"I want to teach my little brother how to write so that his story can be on TV too."
"I think Green Screen Adventures is a perfect addition for a Writers' Workshop because it's an additional incentive for the children. I think that the more it is on, and talked about, and children see their peers' stories on TV, more and more students will be writing stories at home."
"Green Screen is promoting self-esteem, especially for special education children, about their writing abilities no matter what level they're at. The students are so PROUD. One of them was speechless for about a minute. It is also promoting the teachers' hard work! And now the parents are coming to me and communicating with each other."
"Kids are seeing their real stories acted out and published on TV. That's awesome for a child."
