Honors - Greenscreen Adventures

The recognition that Green Screen Adventures has received speaks to its success, the meticulous work that goes into its production, and the positive impact the program has on children.

by Common Sense Media, which independently reviews all children's media.

2009 Service to America Award for Children - National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation

We are pleased to be acknowledged by the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation," said Norman H. Shapiro, president of Weigel Broadcasting Co. "We believe that Green Screen Adventures is a show that makes a difference: one class at a time, one story at a time, one student at a time. The program has several goals, not only to encourage writing and literacy among students, but also to provide an inspirational tool for teachers and perhaps, most importantly, to promote a sense of pride and that dreams can come true."

Norman Shapiro, president of Weigel Broadcasting Co., was presented with the Service to America Award for the company's children's television series Green Screen Adventures at the 2009 National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation ceremony in Washington D.C. FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell presented the award.

2010 and 2009 Clarion Award - Association of Women in Communications for excellence in children’s programming.

The Clarion Awards is a national program that recognizes excellence in all areas of communications. Green Screen Adventures has been selected to receive this honor twice!

"It is an honor to be recognized for the valuable work we are doing in the community," notes Gail Sikevitz, director of educational programming for Weigel Broadcasting Co. and producer of Green Screen Adventures. "Inspiring children to write by featuring their stories on television is a powerful way to encourage young people to communicate and express themselves."

2010 and 2008 Gabriel Award – Green Screen Adventures has been honored twice by The Catholic Academy for Communication Arts for excellence in programming. The award honors work that uplifts and nourishes the human spirit through the positive, creative treatment of concerns to humankind.

2010 Telly Award for Children's Programming
The Telly Awards honor the finest film and video productions and outstanding local, regional, and cable television. Their mission has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity.
